HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER OF HEALTH MATES?
Since 2005 – I was in year 11 at school.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO JOIN HEALTH MATES?
After I stopped playing team sports Health Mates was a good solution for me to keep fit and healthy.
WHAT HAVE YOU PARTICIPATED IN AT HEALTH MATES?
For a very long time I just came and used the gym equipment, which did become very repetitive and slightly boring for me. I decided to try some of the group exercise classes and quickly found that REV and weight training classes were my favourite. In the last couple of years I have been training with Joshua (Personal Trainer). He has taught me to train in a variety of areas allowing me to constantly change my routine and to achieve new fitness goals.
WHAT HAVE YOU ACHIEVED SO FAR, AND HOW HAS IT CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
I have achieved some weight loss and muscle gain. More importantly, through personal training with Josh, I have increased my weight lifting ability whilst performing things like squats and chest press and I have improved my overall fitness leading to a very active lifestyle that I love.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE FUTURE?
To continue to improve my overall fitness – I would like to be able to do more push ups and increase the time on my planks.
WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE SOMEONE WHO IS IN A SIMILAR POSITION AS YOU WERE?
To just start as you wont regret it. Being trained by Josh has shown me what I am capable of achieving and what I still have to achieve. You are not only challenged physically but also mentally as there are often lots of times I don’t think I can achieve something, but Josh will keep pushing me until I do.
A WORD FROM HER TRAINER, JOSH:
I have had the privilege of training Rachel for approximately 3 years now and I couldn’t be prouder. I have put her through some of the toughest programs and she still turns up two times per week ready to go. Rachel has the mentality of a champion and because of that has achieved the results she has. Well done Rachel; stay strong!
